Two men have been arrested and charged with second degree criminal sexual conduct toward a minor between the ages of 11-14.
20-year-old Ryan Bradley Pierce of Elgin and 23-year-old Chad Rabon of West Columbia were arrested on Thursday.
Both are accused of having sexual relations with 14-year-old girls in Kershaw County, according to Sheriff Jim Matthews.
On June 19, the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office was notified by a woman that Rabon had been sexually involved with her 14-year-old daughter, Matthews says. The sheriff's office conducted a investigation into the allegation and obtained an arrest warrant for Rabon, who was later arrested in Lexington County.
During the course of the investigation, deputies learned that Ryan Bradley Pierce had been with Rabon on the two occasions when Rabon had sexual relations with the girl, according to Matthews. On one of those occasions, Pierce had become sexually involved with a different 14-year-old girl at the same location, the sheriff said.
The parents of the 14-year-old told investigators they found out about the encounter through text messages, Matthews said.
The second young girl detailed her involvement with Pierce during an interview with investigators on July 2, Matthews said. Based on her statements and other evidence, the sheriff's office obtained an arrest warrant for Pierce.
“There seems to be a lot of this type activity going on lately," said Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews. "Adult men need to realize that if they take advantage of young girls in this manner and we find out about it, we will thoroughly investigate the allegations and if appropriate, put them in jail. This kind of activity needs to stop.”
According to the Sex Offender Registry, Rabon was previously charged with criminal solicitation of a minor involving a 12-year-old female victim. He is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.
Pierce, who has no prior criminal record, is currently being detained at the Kershaw County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
