The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men in connection with the thefts of 6 vehicles and 25 auto break-ins in the Camden, Cassatt and Kershaw areas of Kershaw County.

Deputies arrested 19-year-old Shawn Michael Cave and 17-year-old Rick Thomas Kennedy Jr., and searching for 20-year-old Jonathan David Bradley in connection with these thefts.

According to Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews, the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office was investigating numerous reports of automobiles being broken into in Camden, East Camden, Cassatt and Kershaw.

In addition to the break-ins, five people reported that their cars had been stolen and one reported the theft of an ATV.

Kershaw County investigators recovered all of the stolen vehicles.

In each automobile theft the owner left the keys in the vehicle, the report stated.

Investigators say they’re currently trying to locate personal property that was taken during the break-ins.

Interviews of the suspects indicated that the property was traded for drugs or sold outright.

Matthews said that investigators believe that Cave, Kennedy and Bradley entered other vehicles, but because the owners had removed items of value, nothing was stolen and those owners did not report the incident to law enforcement.

“Great job by my investigators,” said Sheriff Matthews. “They had good evidence following some break-ins which they followed up on and were able to quickly identify the thieves and get two of them locked up.”

Deputies are still looking for Bradley who is now considered a fugitive and requests that anyone having information as to his whereabouts contact Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.

If convicted on these charges each of these individuals face up to 75 years in prison. Of the three individuals, Bradley is the only one with a criminal record with arrests for simple possession of marijuana and criminal domestic violence, deputies say.Cave and Kennedy are being detained at the Kershaw County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
