Tuskeegee Airman among military people to be honored at Colonial Cup | Sports & Recreation
CAMDEN, SC (WIS) - A Tuskeegee Airman and Sumter native will be honored at the 44th annual Marion du Pont Scott Colonial Cup in November.
Cup organizers plan to honor Dr. Leroy Bowman, Lt. USAF (Ret) at the races on Saturday, November 23rd. For the past three years, race organizers have saluted thousands of people serving in the military by providing free tickets and hosting military-themed events at the annual steeplechase.
Bowman served in World War II as one of the Tuskeegee Airmen, America's first black military airmen.
Gates open and pre-race events start at 9 a.m. and the military tribute is at 11. The steeplechase races start at 12:30 p.m. The Colonial Cup is at Springdale Race Course in Camden.
