KERSHAW COUNTY, SC (WIS)- Kershaw County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested two men in connection with two separate stabbings.
As a deputy was taking a report on a stabbing incident at Rabbits Store Tuesday, 34-year-old Ryan Estridge of Westville called the Sheriff's department to talk to an investigator. The investigator determined Estridge should be taken into custody, and picked him up.
As the deputies were driving Estridge to the Kershaw County Detention Center, they passed a fight outside a home near Rabbits Store.
The deputies stopped and found a man had been stabbed several times during the fight. He was airlifted to Palmetto Health Richland where he is in stable condition.
They arrested 22-year-old Thomas Goins of Bethune.
Estridge and Goins are charged with Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature and are being detained in the Kershaw County Detention Center. Deputies say both stabbing incidents were separate from each other.
"The two deputies involved in this did an outstanding job in a very dangerous situation," said Sheriff Jim Matthews. "They had one person already in custody, had to break up a fight with multiple participants, tend to a dying victim, take another man into custody and there was no backup for them."
"This is why I continually ask for more manpower," said Matthews. "These deputies are to be commended."
