Report: Pregnant clerk locks herself in restroom during attempted armed robbery | Crime
A pregnant clerk’s quick-thinking may have saved her and her unborn child’s life by locking herself inside a restroom during an attempted armed robbery.
According to a Camden Police Department incident report, an armed suspect entered the Check Into Cash located on E. Dekalb Street in Camden on Friday.
Police say the clerk was in the restroom at the back of the building near the safe, and had left the door open, when she saw the suspect walk around the corner.
The clerk told police the suspect pointed a gun at her and began to curse.
The clerk began to scream, and attempted to close the door, the report stated.
The suspect then tried to stop the clerk from shutting the door.
When the clerk finally managed to get the door closed, she locked it and contacted 911.
Police say the clerk stayed in the restroom until law enforcement arrived.
According to the report, there was no money reported missing from the store.
Police say the suspect is described as a light-skin to medium brown black male, believed to be in his late 20’s to early 30’s.
The suspect was last seen with some type of beanie around his braids and a durag on his head.
