Teens, Law Enforcement, and Stores Collaborate on Project Sticker Shock

Throughout the month of April, grocery stores in the Midlands will be “shocked” with bright green stickers reminding customers that it is illegal to provide alcohol to minors.  High school students and officers from the Alcohol Enforcement Teams partner by entering stores and placing stickers and bottle hangers on products containing alcohol sharing this message: “Know the Law!  It is illegal to purchase or provide alcohol for anyone under 21!”

CAMDEN, SC (WIS) - You may not believe it, but there's a nationwide competition for elementary school students who practice perfect penmanship.

That's right, it's the Zaner-Bloser's National Handwriting Contest. Guess what? A 9-year-old Camden boy brought home the gold this year with first place in the 3rd grade division.

Trenton Stokes is a student at Pine Tree Hill Elementary. In order to compete, Stokes had to write a couple of sentences that included his thoughts on why cursive is important.

Camden, SCThe Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) will present its eighth annual Jazz at the Center Music Festival, April 20-22, in historic downtown Camden.  This year’s festival will begin with a happy hour starting at 7:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Wood Auditorium showcasing an exhibit of jazz memorabilia, light hors d'ouevres and cash bar. The opening concert follows featuring Gypsy Jazz with Swing 42—Hot Club of Columbia and Jazz Rock with the Mike Frost Jazz Quartet featuring Lauren Meccia begins at 8:00 p.m.
