COLUMBIA, SC (WIS)- COLUMBIA, SC (AP/WIS) - South Carolina health officials are warning visitors to the upcoming state fair to be vigilant about a new strain of swine flu.

The Department of Health and Environmental Control said Tuesday it is working with Clemson University to prevent the spread of the new flu strain known as H3N2v.

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS)- An elderly Aiken County man has been identified as
the first person to die with West Nile Virus in South Carolina this
year, according to the state Department of Health and Environmental Control.

DMV offers veteran designation on driver licenses

The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced today the availability of a “VETERAN” designation on driver licenses, identification cards and beginner permits for individuals who served honorably in the United States Armed Forces.

“The Governor and the Legislature joined forces to acknowledge the service of our veterans,” said Executive Director Kevin Shwedo. “Our veterans have done their part serving our country and it’s only right that we should honor them. I’m proud that we can offer this service and I hope they will take advantage of it.”

Suspect in teen's disappearance argued with murder victim about another missing woman

KERSHAW COUNTY, SC (WIS)- The man accused of kidnapping 15-year-old Gabrielle Swainson got into an argument with a man, who was later found shot and killed, over a woman who is missing and feared dead, according to the victim's sister.

Freddie Grant is currently in jail refusing to talk to investigators about the teen's disappearance. He is also a person of interest in a murder and another missing person's case and family members say all three are linked.
