Letter Carriers' Annual Food Drive Set for May 11

 

The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) will conduct its 21st annual food drive to combat hunger on Saturday, May 11. Letter carriers will collect non-perishable food donations on that day as they deliver mail along their postal routes.

 

It is the nation's largest single-day food drive, and is held annually on the second Saturday in May in 10,000 cities and towns in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam.

Camden, SC—May 3, 2012—The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) invites you to a very special evening, Thursday, May 16 for The Voices of Camden: The Quarrel With Oneself and Camden ART’s opening reception for its spring exhibition, BLACK BIRDS, RAVENS & CROWS  in the Bassett  Gallery. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m. and continues until 7:00. Voices  will take the stage at 7:00 p.m. in the Jim & Pat Watts Performing Arts Wing located at the FAC behind the Wood Auditorium.

Sheriff: Wanted man threatens suicide, arrested following standoff

Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a wanted Fairfield County man following a two hour standoff in a cemetery in Kershaw County.

According to Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews, around 7:15 p.m., 40-year-old Robert Anthony Bass called Kershaw County dispatch and told them he wanted to turn himself in because Fairfield County authorities had warrants on him for burglary.

Bass told Kershaw County dispatch he was in the cemetery of Springvale Baptist Church, the report stated.
